Named in honor of Katies great-great grandmother, Sadie was an activist and prohibitionist who ultimately saved Rhinefarm after Prohibition went into effect in 1920 by replanting much of Rhinefarm to Bartlett Pear Orchards and pastures for cattle. Although she was a prohibitionist in her day, she was known for running in music and arts circles. We can't help but think that shed be proud to know that over 100 years later our sparkling wine bears her name. The label artwork is a nod to Sadie with calalilies, which grow across Rhinefarm each spring, and pears, which saved the family farm.
